Hi. I’m Diana.
I’m a strategic content designer, copywriter, and technical writer/editor with a depth and breadth of experience that includes everything from fashion catalog copy, SEO blog content, and social media to poetry, software engineering manuals, and much more. Somewhere along the way, I started jokingly referring to myself as a “content therapist” because there wasn’t a good term to describe what I really do and why I’m so passionate about it. More recently, though, I realized “content therapist” is the most sincere, complete, and accurate way to describe what makes my work unique: I help humans live better lives and guide their organizations to success by thinking carefully about what to say, how to say it, and how the language they choose reflects their core values and priorities.
I offer a range of services, from research and content development to editorial support. Also, I provide tutoring and coaching, specializing in helping individuals aged 14 and up develop confidence, skill, and versatility in their writing and editing abilities. I have experience teaching creative writing, ESL writing, and academic and professional writing, both in the classroom and in one-on-one settings.
What’s in a name?
I named my business “Morgan Lucius” to honor two people who represent my best qualities and have greatly influenced the person I’ve become.
“Morgan” is my paternal grandmother’s maiden name. My Ganna Judy lost her husband to pancreatic cancer and became a single mother when my father was only seven years old. She didn’t want to remarry, as my grandfather Rufus was her only love. Instead, she chose to raise their three children while working full time, all the while making sure they never lacked a stable, loving home. Despite the challenges she faced and the sacrifices she made to provide for her family, my Ganna always found joy in the simple things, like watching the birds in her garden, savoring Vermont maple candy, and tending to her impressive collection of African violets. Through her example, I learned the value of quiet strength, the importance of consistency, and the necessity of slowing down to appreciate everyday moments of beauty and joy. I also learned that it’s important to sacrifice to protect the people you love: my father and my two aunts all had successful careers and full, happy lives thanks to the support my grandmother was able to provide through hardship.
“Lucius” is the name of my maternal great-great-grandfather. He supported my own grandfather, Richard, with love, kindness, mentoring, and a sense of humor that helped him overcome a very painful childhood and become a constant source of wisdom and happiness in my own life. I never met Lucius, who died before I was born, but my Grampa Dick, as I knew him, was a hard worker with an infectious sense of mischief and an unstoppable sweet tooth. He was tirelessly thorough and precise in all that he did, never complained about life’s inconveniences, and he demonstrated his affection by solving problems and creating beautiful, useful things for his family and friends. One of my favorite stories about my Grampa Dick is that even though he worked 18-hour days supporting seven children, he used to go to the nursing home where Lucius spent his final days every Sunday to help him shave, knowing how important it was to Lucius to be well-groomed, even though his hands were no longer steady enough to hold the old-fashioned straight razors he preferred.
With the name Morgan Lucius, I’m not just honoring my ancestors—I’m also embracing the strength, persistence, resilience, humor, and kindness that they exemplified. It’s a daily reminder to carry forward their values and share them with others through my work. I take pleasure in crafting beautiful, precise things from language and ideas, I support the people and principles I hold dear with consistency, patience, hard work, and an action-over-hype approach, and I rely on my ability to practice gratitude and find humor in life’s indignities to get me through hard days.
